What lists are covered?
We screen against the OpenSanctions default collection: consolidated sanctions, PEPs, wanted lists, and debarment or exclusion data from many jurisdictions. The mirror is refreshed daily.
What do the three verdicts mean?
No relevant match means no strong relevant matches were found. PEP — enhanced due diligence means a strong match on a PEP-type list. Flagged means a strong match on a prohibitive list such as sanctions, crime, wanted, or debarment.
Why can I download the PDF only once?
Each scan includes one PDF download so reports stay tied to a deliberate export. If the download fails, a one-hour retry window lets you try again.
Can I screen Chinese names?
Yes. Chinese names are supported with exact matching and containment logic suited to CJK scripts, alongside Latin-script fuzzy matching for English and other Latin names.
Is this legal or compliance advice?
No. Moon Scan is a name-screening aid. It is not legal, compliance, or regulatory advice, and a verdict is not a determination of identity or risk on its own.
How fresh is the data?
The OpenSanctions mirror is refreshed daily. Each PDF report records the dataset version used for that scan.
What happens to my scan data?
Scan queries and results are stored in your account history so you can revisit past verdicts. See the privacy policy for details and how to request deletion.
How do I get more quota or API access?
